EB GAMES Australia – TV OFFER

Recently EB Games (Australia) sent out an E Mail with a code for a special offer on a number of Sony TV models. The code was for the purchase of one TV with a choice of screen sizes of 43 inches , 49 inches, 55 inches and 75 inches.

The discount offered was very attractive and hard to ignore so I decided to take up the offer and ordered the 75 Inch model – KD75X9000E (4K HDR)

Standard prices are (at time of writing):

  • Sony On Line Store AUD$6999
  • JB HiFi  AUD$5698
  • The Good Guys  AUD $5695

EB Games Special Offer was AUD$3999 which is a saving of about $1700 over local retailers.

Normally I would not pay so much for a TV but the offer was too good to refuse and apparently I have more money than sense.

It only took a couple of days to be delivered from Sydney and I have it set up and running.

I have an XBox One S that will play both games and Blu Ray movies in 4K HDR as well as the PS4 Pro that will play games in 4K HDR.

I bought Planet Earth 2 and used the X Box One S to play it. I have to say that the picture is “fantastic”!

I have also played Uncharted – 4 and The Lost Legacy as well as The Last of Us (both 4K HDR) on PS4 Pro and in all cases the picture quality is also excellent.

The only problem that I had was with the Denon AVX2000. It has 4K pass through but not HDR. Luckily the TV has 4 HDMI ports so I got around this by plugging the 2 consoles into the TV and using ARC to get the sound to the AV receiver for the PS4. However I could not get ARC to work for the X Box One S so I used Optical Digital Audio cable to connect it to the AV receiver. Optical Digital is not as good as HDMI but it works and I do not intend to upgrade my AV receiver any time soon.

Overall this was a very good deal and the discounts on the smaller screen sizes were just as good.
